YEMEN - Old Walled City of Shibam

"Surrounded by a fortified wall, the 16th-century city of Shibam is one of the oldest and best examples of urban planning based on the principle of vertical construction. Its impressive tower-like structures rise out of the cliff and have given the city the nickname of ‘the Manhattan of the desert’." -http://whc.unesco.org

Another interesting postcard with matching stamp issued in France!
(UNESCO has issued its own stamp since 1961---which can be used in mails posted from UNESCO Headquarters or Maison de l'UNESCO at
Number 7 Place de Fontenoy in Paris, France)
Happy to have this in my collection!
Thank you so much, Jean Pierre!
